We are delighted to announce that Mrs Justice Finola O’Farrell DBE will be joining the PLA Associates sub-group for a virtual event to be held Thursday 5 November 2020. The event will start at 5pm.  

Mrs Justice O’Farrell DBE was called to the Bar in 1983 by Inner Temple and took Silk in 2002. She was appointed as a Recorder in 2007 and made a Justice of the High Court (Queen’s Bench Division) in 2016, assigned to the TCC. She was appointed Judge in Charge of the Technology & Construction Court in March 2020. Prior to her judicial appointment, O’Farrell J had over 30 years’ experience as a leading barrister in construction, engineering, energy, shipbuilding and information technology cases.

As Judge in Charge of the TCC, O’Farrell J will provide aspiring procurement lawyers with unique and invaluable insights into her own career journey, the issue of diversity in the legal profession and, in particular, all things public procurement!

This virtual event will allow ample opportunity for participants to ask questions of O’Farrell J and share their own insights.

The event is free to attend and open to all qualified lawyers (solicitors and barristers) below Partner/QC level (or equivalent), as well as law students, trainees and pupils. Membership of the PLA is not a pre-requisite to attend and we would be delighted to welcome any non-members with a particular interest in procurement law.

As a reminder, the idea behind the Associates sub-group is to encourage greater participation of lawyers at an earlier stage in their careers to join and contribute to the valued efforts of the Association.  We hope that senior members of the PLA will encourage and support their junior colleagues in joining us for this event.
