PLA Associates’ Group event – Insights from the Bar – London 30 October 2019
30th October 2019 @ 5:15 pm - 7:30 pm
Following the hugely successful launch of the PLA Associates sub-group in May, we are delighted to confirm that the next Associates’ event will be held during the evening of Wednesday 30 October 2019 in a private room at The Castle, Farringdon (Cowcross Street, London, EC1M 6DB).
Registration from 5.15pm
Speakers and Q&A at 5.45pm
Networking from 6.45pm onwards
We will be joined by leading junior barristers who will kindly be sharing their experiences acting in recent high profile procurement cases, followed by an informal discussion in which our speakers will share their experiences of working in procurement law over a number of years, and offer career insights for those looking to focus on this area in the future. We will close with networking nibbles and drinks.
Our confirmed speakers are:
· Joe Barrett discussing his recent involvement in Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust v Cornwall Council, in which Joe acted for the successful defendant
· Ligia Opesciu discussing her involvement in the lifting of the automatic suspension in Circle Nottingham Ltd vs NHS Rushcliffe CCG, in which Ligia acted for the successful defendant
The event is free to attend and open to all qualified lawyers (solicitors and barristers) below Partner/QC level (or equivalent), as well as law students, trainees and pupils. Membership of the PLA is not a pre-requisite to attend and we would be delighted to welcome any non-members with a particular interest in procurement law.
As a reminder, the idea behind the Associates sub-group is to encourage greater participation of lawyers at an earlier stage in their careers to join and contribute to the valued efforts of the Association. We hope that senior members of the PLA will encourage and support their junior colleagues in joining us for this event.
